Overview
Introduction
Computers for Enhanced Education (CEE) is a non-governmental organisation that works to support Malawian schools to provide quality ICT education with quality ICT equipment. In doing so we provide teacher training in digital literacy to ensure schools and can provide the maximum learning opportunities for students. This NGO builds upon the work of The Turing Trust in Malawi to expand these programmes nationally and provide a solution for schools to be provisioned with ICT equipment in the long-term.
Duties:
1. Finance
- Keeping financial records and performing financial procedures (e.g., receipts, payments requests, petty cash).
- Support the organisation and management of internal and external audits.
- Ensure expenses are authorised and processed in accordance with agreed procedures for both CEE and donors.
- Maintain the accounting reporting process, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of ledgers and all supporting documentation and compliance with finance and procurement regulations.
- Maintain accounting records, ensuring they are complete, accurate, well archived and safeguarded.
- Ensure agreed reporting dates are maintained according to CEE’s policies.
- Assist in managing partners’ finance reporting ensuring compliance with CEE and donor regulations.
2. Office Administration
- Develop and maintain effective office systems (e.g., IT support, office maintenance, fixed assets, supplier contact) ensuring these are consistent with CEE’s operating requirements.
- Support the efficient running of CEE’s Lilongwe office daily operations.
- Ensure all procurement processes are in compliance with CEE and donor regulations.
- Support logistics for CEE Lilongwe programme activities.
- Other administration duties as agreed.
3. Human Resources
- Advise on HR policies when required to ensure these comply with the Malawi Employment Act.
- Ensure staff handbook is reviewed and updated as required to comply with CEE’s and the Malawi Employment Act.
- Maintain personnel records.
- Coordinate recruitment/induction in line with CEE’s processes.
Qualification
- University degree in accounting, finance or related field
- Minimum 3 years experience in financial management especially non-profit sector.
Experience:
- Strong organizational and planning skills
- Advanced knowledge in Excel and financial systems.
- Payroll functions experience is a plus
- Strong familiarity with Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
- Account management experience required
- Ability to communicate well with individuals of all backgrounds
- Possess an understanding of nonprofit operations and regulations
- Team player who is self-motivated and can communicate effectively in a remote environment
- Ability to prioritize and manage competing priorities
