From Curiosity to Confidence: How Digital Learning is Shaping Victoria's Future

At Computers for Enhanced Education (CEE), we are proud to share the impact of the Digital Learning Programme that is transforming education in schools across Malawi. With support from Turing Trust, schools are gaining access to digital learning resources that are equipping students with the skills they need to thrive in an increasingly technology-driven world.

One of the schools benefiting from this initiative is Blantyre Baptist Academy in Blantyre District, where students are developing practical digital skills that are enhancing both their academic performance and future career prospects.

Among these students is Victoria Mbewe, a Form 3 learner whose journey reflects the life-changing impact of the programme.

Before computers were introduced at her school, Victoria had very little knowledge or experience using digital technology. Today, through regular computer studies lessons and hands-on practical sessions, she has acquired valuable ICT skills that have transformed her learning experience. She can confidently create folders, print documents, and produce drawings using a computer—skills that have boosted her confidence and made learning more interactive and enjoyable.

"I enjoy practical lessons the most because they allow us to use the computers ourselves and apply what we learn in class," Victoria explained. "Working directly on the computers has helped me understand computer concepts much faster and improve my skills."

Victoria believes that digital literacy is essential in today's world, where technology plays a critical role in almost every profession. She is confident that the computer skills she is gaining today will support her future career and enable her to succeed in the modern workplace.

"These skills will help me in the future because computers are used in many jobs. I now feel more prepared for the opportunities that lie ahead," she said.

The Digital Learning Programme is creating meaningful opportunities for students like Victoria by providing access to technology and practical learning experiences that were previously unavailable. Beyond improving classroom learning, the programme is empowering young people with the digital skills and confidence they need to participate in Malawi's digital transformation.

Through the continued support of Turing Trust and the dedication of Computers for Enhanced Education, more students across Malawi are gaining access to quality digital education, opening doors to brighter futures and ensuring that no learner is left behind in the digital age.
