From Never Touching a Computer to Dreaming Bigger: Tadala's Digital Journey

Distance should never determine a child's future.

At Computers for Enhanced Education (CEE), we are committed to ensuring that every learner—regardless of where they live—has access to digital learning opportunities. Guided by the aspirations of Malawi Vision 2063, our Digital Learning Programme is reaching even the most remote communities, ensuring that no student is left behind in the digital age.

One of these communities is Katole Community Day Secondary School in Thyolo District.

With just 20 desktop computers and a solar power system installed by CEE, the school has experienced a remarkable transformation. Students who had never interacted with computers are now learning essential digital skills such as typing documents, searching for information, and accessing thousands of offline educational resources through the Rachel and Kolibri digital libraries.

Among them is Tadala Golden, a Form 1 student whose life has been changed by the programme.

"Before computer studies were introduced at our school, I had never used a computer," says Tadala. "Now I can type documents, search for information, and use educational resources on the computer. These lessons have made me interested in technology, and I believe the skills I am learning will help me succeed at school and in my future career."

For Tadala, computers are more than machines—they are opening doors to opportunities He never imagined.

By providing computers, digital learning resources, and a reliable solar power system, CEE is creating meaningful opportunities for students at Katole CDSS. Learners are gaining practical digital skills that will strengthen their academic performance, improve their employability, and prepare them for a technology-driven future.

Every computer installed, every lesson delivered, and every student empowered brings Malawi one step closer to achieving digital inclusion.
